Chapter 1: AUSPICIOUS BEGINNINGS

A coming of age romance set during the Victorian age. When a lonely boy named Peter goes on a hunting expedition with his father's party in the Sahara, he finds a kindred spirit in a young East-African refugee named Bilan. Adopted by his privileged family to a small Canadian isle, Bilan and Peter must find their place in the world, even as family and society determines to put them into separate social spheres. Will that place ultimately be together as soulmates? Or apart with safer choices?
