Adrian Miller planned to leave Forks as soon as the trouble with the Volturi was over. But he didn't.

Adrian meets Charlie, the local police chief and the father of Carlisle's daughter-in-law. Adrian isn't surprised to realize that Charlie doesn't know anything about the existence of vampires, but is surprised to discover that Charlie doesn't seem to know anything about the supernatural world at all.

Adrian knows that falling Charlie is dangerous for the policeman. But they both fall, and Adrian doesn't know if either of them will live long enough to regret it.
