The Beginning

Mayallyn 'Maya' Crover has had a rough few months - her dad died, her mom thinks she's crazy and she's been seeing visions of a desert that she is certain doesn't exist in this world. When a car crash that is meant to leave her dead, instead leaves her very much alive in the desert of her visions she discovers she is in fact a Compass - someone with the power to see the future that will appear to a true ruler when they are most in danger and will keep them safe. There she also meets Aryan, a prince with an attitude and a brother-complex and Hajan, the current king she is meant protect who harbors a deadly secret. But when Maya comes to realize that her visions don't actually concern Hajan, and are instead focused on Aryan, she finds herself in the middle of a deadly struggle for the throne - one which she must help Aryan, her true charge and the true ruler, win. She will journey with him all over the continent to gather allies and support for his cause, starting with the country to the North and going from there, finding new friends, hard truths and even love - but Maya's adventure is far from easy. With Hajan's men constantly on their tail, the pair has to be careful or they could risk losing not only the throne, but their lives. Maya isn't quite sure how it will all work out, but she knows one thing - her life will never be the same again.
