His parents are a perfect couple and his mom's the more religious one in the duo, so expects her son to opt for an arranged marriage just like his parents. Sally and Karan's parents are neighbors and both the families have unbreakable ties. Years after Sally moved out and Anita and Arjun (Karan's parents) were Barbara and Clark's (Sally's parents) only company, the family still has sunday breakfasts together. Karan being the totally desi kid, never moved out. Luckily he attended state college, so he didn't have to leave.
