Description

"Can I show you something?" Lyria asked, looking over at the boy next to her. "Sure," he replied, smiling sweetly. Lyria smiled back and closed her eyes, extending her arms in front of her, bending them slightly at the elbows and turning her hands so that her palms faced the sky. She brought them down slightly, palms still facing the sky, then inwards before lifting them up, moving them in a circle, her palms flipping over when they reached the top of the invisible circle. Xavier watched in disbelief as the clear blue water rose up from the pond, extending up as if it were an arm before detaching completely, shaping itself into a circle. Lyria turned her wrist so that her palms faced away from her body, then in a swift, powerful motion, pushed them outwards. The ball of water flew backward, exploding in the air. Xavier gasped and looked between Lyria and where the water droplets fell back into the pond, his eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Xavier barely remembered the little girl he'd seen do the impossible. He never forgot their adventures, full of magic and mystery. When she'd left, she'd slowly faded from his mind and he'd convinced himself she hadn't been real and the magic was just a figment of his imagination. Until he saw her again. In a perfect world, Lyria would be normal. In a perfect world, she wouldn't have to hide or move every few months. And she's determined to live in that perfect world. As long as she doesn't stand out and keeps her emotions in check, everything will be okay. But hiding in plain sight is more difficult than she expected, especially when her past catches up to her.
