Prologue

On the wrist of each human being on Earth, there is a clock. The clock ticks down slowly; years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, until it hits zero-- meaning you've just met your soulmate.

This is how it has been for as long as the people could remember, though Luke does find it suspicous that the timers on both of his parent's wrists are still ticking down.
