Prologue

13 year old Layla lives in Paris under the tyrannical rule of Judge Claude Frollo. Her best friend Esmeralda, is like a sister to her, since all of Layla's family are dead, Esmeralda has looked after her for years.
Despite the dangers, Layla is happy in Paris with the other gypsies. But her scarred face, causes most strangers to keep their distance.
Things start to get dangerous, as Esmeralda continues to defy Frollo, putting her, and all of the other gypsies in danger. During the Festival of Fools, Esmeralda stands up for herself, causing her and Layla to go into hiding.
When things start to heat up, how long can Layla stay hidden?
