Prologue

My name is Lavender and I'm in love with my best friend. Her name is Annabeth and we've been friends since middle school. In my dreams I'm happy with her, always laying in a flowery meadow, tucking her hair behind her ear and laughing in the crook of her neck. But then I wake up and remember that she's not mine.

Sometimes I feel like she's leading me on, like when she whispers in my ear that she loves me and tells me that we will be together forever. I don't know what to think.
