Prologue: Q tense

What would happen in the Star Trek universe if every ship suddenly had a conscious? What if the term "Bridge on the captain" could sometimes be said literally? Well, Q got bored and had the same question. So he, in his meddling ways, created an alternate timeline where exactly that happens. Picard has to deal with his ship acting more like a girlfriend he can't escape from rather than a vessel, and many events are changed drastically. Can a ship have a heart and soul? In this universe, yes.

Star Trek is owned, at this time, by CBS and Paramount pictures. This is just a fun Fan Fiction thought experiment. This is an Alternate universe, and thus, isn't canon.
