She was cold to the touch. Draped out on the lawn under a sky full of stars, shivers wracking her petite frame. "What the Hell are you doing out here, Bird?" I whispered, shrugging my jacket off and draping it gently over her shoulders. "N-No- Nothing." "Don't lie to me." She winced. "I-I'm sorry D-Drew." her teeth chattered noisily between her words. "You could have gotten really sick." I told her, picking her up bridal style and carrying her to the front porch. I raised my hand to knock but her fingers clamped onto my wrist. "Please don't make me go b-back in there. Please, Drew, I-I'm begging you." She began to sob. "Okay," I whispered, "Okay. let's go." Starling Forrest isn't like most people. She likes three things: apples, the sun, and routines. When Andrew Bianchi enters her life, he lets her keep her apples, and he can't take away the sun... but her sense of normalcy is shattered.
