Miss Alice Fiennes, a gentleman's daughter, finds herself in the middle of a deeply disturbing murder investigation. Mr. John Southwell, the Detective Chief Inspector, believes she knows more than she is letting on and he's determined to find out what that is despite the interference of her very protective older brother. When Alice's own life is put in danger because of family secrets no one is willing to divulge, the Inspector and his resources are pushed to the limit. Can he save the Fiennes family from themselves or will all his work and warnings be in vain?
