Prologue

In her first twenty years of life, Ember knew mayhem better than most. Traumatized and tortured as a child, she soothed the pain of her past by keeping a needle close at hand and everything else away. Her self-imposed solitude kept the memories at bay and the world safe from her deepest and darkest secret; she could manipulate fire. When Ember meets Reed however, secrecy is no longer an option. Reed is an Elemental, a person born with the remarkable ability to control one of the four elements found in Nature. Ember is surprised to discover she is the first known female in a world of all male Elementals with an unparalleled affinity for fire, and her family is being hunted by a madman. Faced with an almost insurmountable task, Ember must find her long-lost sisters before they fall victim to their enemy's quest for immortality all the while learning control over the raging fire housed within her. Ember soon comes to realize with Reed by her side, anything is possible.
