Mable Lawrence has never considered herself a heroine. She's ordinary, the girl who didn't even finish college, living off her sisters' paychecks while she cares for their ill father. She goes about her day-to-day routine on autopilot, accepting the fact that she won't get a happily ever after like in the stories. That all changes on the day she goes for a walk on a nearby hiking trail in her home town of Berkshire, Vermont.
