The First Time

I was always late for everything . Breakfast, homework, class, boys . You name it .

But then I saw him . I didn't notice anything about him at first . It was nothing . I just saw him around school like you do anyone . He kept to himself and rarely spoke with anyone . His head was on a desk every single class .

Then came the dreaded group assignment we'd been hearing about since the first day of school . Worth 30% of our entire grade, I was anxious about getting a bad partner who'd slack off and bring me down . But I wasn't prepared for the boy in the back of the class .

Suddenly, it didn't matter that I would be late . I'd reach there eventually .
