Prologue

Vampires are the ruling class in America. Instead of hiding in shadows they throw grand balls, drink blood by the gallon from gold-trimmed goblets and reside in mansions larger than small towns.

And with a ruling class comes a class divide, growing larger by the day - feeding off of fear and arrogance. Non-vampires live humble lives as servants and farmers, their lives dictated by the vampire they work for.

Soleil is a hybrid - a mix of two non-vampire species. Like most days, he sits hunched in a small cage, angry and resentful.

But when Celeste and Silvian Malum, a formidable pair of wedded vampires, decide to take him home like a rescued stray, his life is changed significantly.

For better, or for worse.
