In just one day, three quarters of the world's population ceased to exist; blood thirsty zombies-the lurkers- crawled the earth in their stead.

In a fight for survival, Emily and Wade must venture far from home to the place people call The Refuge. A place of peace and nature uninfected by the cursed plague of the undead, or so they say. How did it come to be? How far would Emily and Wade have to travel to reach the mysterious yet safe zone?

But after many near-death experiences and losses, will they ever reach The Refuge?
