Description
"Come closer little one, For we had a deal. Bring me your baby sister and a wish you can steal." I icy voice echoes in my ears. Then a harsh bone-chilling laugh strikes me. A shadowy hand hovers over me and envelopes me. I sit up awake on the verge of screaming. I intake a shaky breath and squeeze my eyes shut. A shiver runs down my spine, I hug myself and the loud crashing. "Looks like mom's awake," I mutter, with a sigh, I stretch out my legs and swing them over the side of my bed. "Time to start another miserable day," I say walking to my closet. I quickly dress and put on my glasses, tucking my braid behind my ear, I head down the stairs. "POPPY!" My mother yells from the kitchen. "I'm heading down now Mom," I reply, as I made my way to a second set of stairs. I head down to the bakery and, quickly open it up. I walk over and stand behind the counter, I rest my arms on the counter and sigh. "Another day, another slow morning." Moments later an old lady walks into the bakery. "Oh, Hello dear." She says smiling at me. "Hello, what may I get you today mam," I ask smiling. "Oh, A cup of white tea and a raspberry scone if you don't mind dear." "Not a problem, to go, or to stay?" I inquired. "To stay dear, I'll be at that table over there. With you being so busy I don't mind waiting." She says smiling. 'My oh my what a sweet cheeky old lady. I like her.' I chuckle and nod. "Just a minute," I inform her as I go to the backroom. I carefully prepare the tea, and then I go to the display case and pull out a raspberry scone. I walk over to the lady and place the tea and scone before her. I turn to walk away when the lady stops me. "Would you mind sitting and chatting with me for a while dear?" "Oh, yes why it would be my pleasure," I say sitting down. "My name is Poppy Inara." I hold out my hand. "Grace Jane." She says shaking my hand. "So, Mrs. Jane-" I begin. "Please call me Grace, Poppy." Mrs. Jane says.
