Description
Ellena Carmical can't remember the last time she's smiled in public. Never really fitting in at school and being an only child her entire life, she isn't exactly what you would call the social type. And with her parents always either working or fighting, her guitar and blue book seemed to be the only two things holding her together. Sitting down in her room and strumming those wonderful chords seemed to be the only time Ellena was ever truly happy. But just when things couldn't seem to get much worse, tragedy decides to play a very painful role in her life. Leaving her to be deployed to her bitter, drunk, crazy aunt's house whom she's only met once at her Grandma Rose's funeral. Where even then she came un-showered with an obvious hangover. So besides the fact that grief has climbed onto her back, not much has changed. It's still her, and her guitar. But even when she silently stays under the radar, things prove to be difficult as a joyful, uplifting, handsome, very much Christian boy from her new school won't leave her alone. And no matter how may times she rejects him and pushes him away, he still comes back, smiles and all. And despite herself, Ellena finds his smiles to be becoming more and more contagious. But will Ellena be able to let this cheeky, happy new boy into her life, or will the tragedy of her past ruin her future as well? Never the less, Ellena can't help but wonder if all these wonderful things he's telling her might be true. She can't help but wonder if Garret Carter might just be the one to bring her smiles back.
