Chapter 1- The Entry

There was silence.

I don't mean regular, every day silence. I mean complete, utter, disturbingly silent silence. There were no birds chirping, no water rippling, and no wind sighing.

Everything was silent.

Because everything was so terribly calm and collected to the point of being disturbing, I thought I might get up and take a look around.
