A year after her twin sister's death, Cat discovers that she's a witch and all this time her twin, Esme, has been suppressing her powers and taking away her friends and potential boyfriends with magic. With the spell Esme cast unraveling, a boy finally shows some interest in Cat-unfortunately for her he's a vampire. Dorian represents the ultimate to Cat as someone she can love who won't die on her-unlike her parents and sister.
