Chapter One

In seventh grade, I tried out and didn't make the school basketball team. I played for recreational, because I just needed to play basketball. Little did I know that I would be playing on a boys' team for the second year in a row... The part of me that was forgotten was the way it felt to be part of a team, everyone working together to earn something that would belong to all of us. We lost almost every game, but we still showed them all up. They couldn't touch the way we laughed after school, calling each other stupid names... and we were happy.
