Kiloh lied next to me in the back of his beat up truck, the stars twinkling at us like they wanted to be acknowledged.

With my head on his arm, I looked at the night sky like he, breathed in his sweet scent, listened to the whistle of the air, craved his lips on mine.

We were no where near safe from what was so intent on making us their target, but near him, I felt like I was.

Even without Kay and even without-

I told myself I wouldn't think about it.

"How?" Kiloh asked from beside me as he gazed at the glitter. "Where did this all start? How did we get here?"

He probably meant: how did we get into the mess we were in? When did we get ourselves into such a dilemma?

The serious stuff.

I wasn't quite sure about the serious part, or maybe I didn't want to think about it.

But I knew the romantic side and I knew the side full of friendship and sisterhood and I knew all of these before I knew the serious side.

Because even as we lied here together, completely a target for a comet to just leap out of the air and onto us like a sumo wrestler, I could still smile at the memories of how we came together.

How we met and what we did.

How we learned to loose for a while.

How we broke others and ourselves.

But most importantly:

How Sadie and Kiloh came to be.

I smiled at the better side of things and frowned internally at the serious side. Of all the things that have happened, I could retell it like a story.

The stars twinkled to be my guide and the wind swept my hair like a midnight mustang's mane.
