Futility. That's a good word, right? I mean, if you use that in an English essay then you're bound to give your teacher an orgasm. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, futility is a noun meaning 'pointlessness or uselessness'. If you ask that English teacher of yours to put the word into context, they'd probably talk about a war or battle being futile. That's a common example. It's a good example too. But I've often wondered what it is about a war that's 'futile'. Is it the attempt at winning that is useless? Or the idea of killing thousands of people that is considered pointless? Or is it fighting back that has led to countless wars being rendered 'futile'? 'War' is another word I've often thought about too. According to definition, a war is 'armed conflict between different countries or different groups within a country'. But I don't like that definition. In fact, I hate it. I'm in a war. But I'm not fighting thousands of men and women. I'm fighting against myself. And against him. We all know of the term 'resistance is futile'... And haven't you heard? War is futile, so that must mean fighting back is futile. Isn't it? *********************** " So many times my loved ones told me to get out.
