Mahjabeen Abdelnour, who goes by Mahja, was born in America from parents who came from Saudi Arabia. Mahja had faced so much hate for being Muslim while growing up. She hated how people treated her and her family. It wasn't fair in her mind. But everything changed when Mahja went to lunch with Amanda. Amanda brought Elton, her boyfriend, to the lunch. Mahja and Elton hit it off and become fast friends. When Amanda and Elton break up, Mahja tries to stay out of it. Both of them are Mahja's friends and Mahja doesn't want to choose a side. Even though her best friend's heart is broken, the break up was the best thing to happen to Mahja. She soon gets feelings for Elton, but she tries her hardest not to love him. He's her best friend's ex. Mahja's not that kind of person. But it happens.
