In a small neighborhood in the city of Atlanta, GA, Rachel Evans finally rents a house for her and her sophomore best friend, Katherine Boyce. But to their surprise, they find out that other familiar people have moved in the same set of houses. But Rachel's experience to finally have her own house will soon be ignored.
When she meets a mysterious teenage male, all kinds of mysteries start to happen. And she will find out soon that the Evenglen, humans resuscitated with superhuman abilities, are much closer than she thinks.
