I watched her across the room as she twirled beneath his fingertips, brunette curls touselled, flaring out as she spun, smiling, joy overwhelming and exuding from her. And I knew. Her skin honey glazed as sweat simmered under the red lights, glowed ethereal and heavenly, her eyes lit up as she tipped her head back laughing. Her lips were red, her cheeks pinched tinged pink. Her body curved in shadows on the walls and though she stood not in the middle of the room, the room centered around her. She was the root and her arms reaching out above her head, her fingers spread as she shook, were the branches and the blossoms and she was they would follow, and if for even a moment she wavered or faltered, if only for a second her smile were to fade, the world would fade with her and there would be no reason to carry on without her.
