"Why did you do it?" my voice is weak, made faint by tears. He smiles. "What will it take for you to realize," he presses a kiss to my forehead, "That I'll do anything for you." "I'll get you back. I promise." He nods a sad smile on his face. My chest hurts. "I know you will." The men come back into their spot. They grab Zander by the arms and pull him away. I look up, tears rolling down my cheeks, a sob locked in my throat. His heat is gone. "I love you." He calls before he disappears from sight. I wipe away tears as I hear the Beta approach me. I stand, raising my chin. I will be strong. I have to be. For him. This asshole can't touch me. "Bring me home." The Beta raises an eyebrow, his grin haunting. "You thought I would keep my promise," He chuckles darkly, "Not a chance."
