Chapter One: Drowning

A year. That's how long it's been since they started running.

Rannok thought things would be easier this way. But a year later and they're still running from the shadow of Sasha's father and from the memories that plague Rannok's dreams at night. A year later and they are still wandering.

Rannok didn't know that when he stole money from the local innkeeper, that this time it would set the local mercenaries after him. When he searches for help, he finds the people of the mountains are just as intolerant as the ones back home, just in different ways. And with cultural differences coming between them, he questions if he and Sasha will ever truly see eye to eye, and whether they will ever truly find peace.
