Experiments.

Each experiment starts with a question, and her question was, how can I erase my mistakes.

After ample research and time and money, her question was answered.

You can't, but you can make sure nobody else finds out.

So she made us. Twenty four soldiers who were hardly human,

To keep her mistakes from coming back to get her.
