On the scenic route down Tamiami Trail between Naples and Miami, Florida, people are mysteriously disappearing, cars left on the side of the road. But not just any people, supernaturals of all races. The Main Council is worried. There are whispers about their incompetence, and they grow nervous. To solve this problem, they contact Canal Investigations. With a variety of species filling the staff, the boss puts the case in Marianna Gris' hands. The solitary witch could use the extra cash for this case, but she's not too thrilled to have the Main Council watching her every move. Of course, she's more than qualified for the job, but she learns she was actually requested by a high up vampire, one who's looking for two of the victims. Truth be told, it was best to take it, keep her busy and her mind off the fact that the stirring in her soul, that's occurring more often, brings out the darkness within her.
