Ghosts

I awoke to my breathing quickening- my heart banging on my chest, as though for some reason, it's trying to bang its way out. Sweat beads run down my back, neck, and soak my bed. my dark hair- that was once in a ponytail- has strands that fell out and are now running down my face, sticking to it. I examine my surroundings.

Thank God- it was only a dream.

Avery Lane feels as though she always has had a connection to the spiritual realm. When she was little, she had always claimed to have seen people that weren't there to others. Her mom, a doctor, was at first thinking it was just an imaginary friend. But then things had gotten worse- there was nightmares. Some were so bad, that Avery would stay up all night, sitting in her dark room, too afraid to even fall asleep. Her mother had took her to the hospital, hoping to get some answers. They had reassured her nothing was wrong with Avery. But as Avery had grown, she starts to realize the people- and 'things'- she was seeing. Weren't in her head. But people that were once alive, and things that had happened.

Avery Lane knew what she saw was ghosts.
