When Ashita Hidoi was merely no more than fifty years old she when was captured and tortured by vampire hunters and has ever since harbored a deep hatred for their cruelty. She doesn't understand how they could call her a monster when it is they who deserve the title.

Yagari Toga has lived his whole life hating vampires ever since they harmed the ones he cared about and has devoted his life to killing the monsters. He doesn't understand how vampires, or purebloods for that matter, can think of themselves to be above monsters; because that's what they are, monsters.
