Phan - The year is 2093 and all antibiotics have ceased to be effective in fighting infection. Measures have been taken by the people of the Earth to preserve life, and humanity has moved into Sterile Zones where physical relationships and skin to skin contact are impossible. To make life without love easier, psychotropic drugs and hormone controls are issued to citizens to ensure encompassing and eternal happiness. For most, this state of euphoria is a blessing. Some refuse. Dan and Phil join the refusers out of curiosity, intending to turn back to the drugs after a week, but in this week something happens that will stop them from ever wanting to control their mood again: they fall in love. Alive like they have never been before; they decide to leave the city - in the full knowledge that they will die without proper sterilization - so as to be together and see the world. Dystopian AU, no major triggers but themes of death and disease. Author note: I wrote this like 5 years ago and deleted it a year later when I moved away from fandoms and was trying to pretend it never happened. However, people enjoyed it and still ask about it now so I see no reason why it can't come back, it's been long enough that it feels like part of my childhood and isn't really embarrassing anymore. Hope it's not too dated! And don't judge too hard, teen-me wrote this in a one month frenzy and was very fond of it.
