Chapter 1

Melvina is an Iron Age Celtic teen with an inconvenient love for Owen, a handsome and courageous warrior whose tribe is at war against Melvina's. When he is captured right before Samhain, the day the Celts marked the beginning of the dreaded darkest part of the year with bonfire sacrifices, Owen is chosen to be the Village's human sacrifice. Melvina is forced to decide whether to let her lover perish, or relinquish the protection of her village in order to help him escape and save his life.
