"My mom's dead, my dad's dead, give me one reason why I shouldn't be dead?" Amely snaps in my direction, her fingers massaging the neck of the beer bottle in her hand. I watch the condensation drip down her fingers, imaging how the wetness would feel if she touched my face instead. "Because I've gotten kind of used to having you around." I wrap my arms around her waist, backing her up against the counter. Maybe it's the beer, or the fact that we're so far away from my life and so close to each other, but the words are out before I can stop them. "Because you make me feel alive." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Amely Rogers moved in down the street...I didn't think anything of it.
