Description
His name is The Shipper, he's a pronounced professional in his collection of ever-changing mail-order brides. This was the norm however. In the time of androids, getting different brides in the mail is a regular aspect of life, albeit still chained with some social stigma. There was a secret to The Shipper however, something about his dealings with his mail-order wives that were different from the usual lonely man looking for social (and often sexual) comfort in someone who was built to placate their needs. The Shipper's android wives always seem a tad more peculiar than the other androids. Regardless of their peculiarity his wives seem to reasonably enough adhere to the strictest rule of androids: Androids don't feel. Wives from the Mail is a short, standalone piece - though it is connected to the stories "Monster Alone" and "The Wolf that Got Away" and you can see how they're connected in the sequel to the trio of these stories, titled "Dead Planet".
