"You're scared of me!" he snarled, masking his hurt with anger. He took a step towards me, but when I looked at him all I could see was the monster from the previous night - a shadow of who I thought my mate was - and it was terrifying. I whimpered, scurrying back until I felt the hard wood of the mahogany door behind me. My heart thudded widely in my chest, my ribs almost constricting its erratic movement, as I took in the rigid figure of the man in front of me. The monster in front of me. A growl followed my actions, his eyes flashing ice blue as he clenched his fists tightly. I could feel myself tremble in response. "Y-you're a... a monster," I hissed out. My voice cracked, and tears spilt. I backed myself further into the door, and his eyes tracked my hand shakily searching for the cold brass of the doorknob somewhere behind me. In an instant, his façade broke, his expression contrasting into hurt. Tears swelled to the surface of his frantic eyes, and his chest rumbled with low growls. My erratic heartbeat didn't calm and darkness inside of him pushed against my Wolf, making me whimper and shudder. But somewhere in him, I could feel his desire for me to stay, to hold him as I had the night before - but I wasn't sure that I was capable of that anymore. With his jaw clenched and grounding down, he swallowed his yearning to move closer through a noisy gulp and a shift in his foot. His glossy brown eyes held my own with intention, each fleck of blue was an emotion which he attempted to convey to me. "I am a monster, I know I am. But you are my cure," he whispered.
