"Seal Lullaby"

The book is arranged with a story in each chapter. Each story is followed by a poem that serves as an epigram. Many names in the story are Russian, as the Pribilof Islands had been bought (with Alaska) by the United States in 1867, and Kipling had access to books about the islands.
