Evie Woodworth's life flipped upside down when her father, Judge Woodworth, was shot and killed in a convenience store, risking his life to jump in front of a young mother and her baby. Evie's mother didn't react like everyone though she would. Instead of being the greiving widow and her husbands funeral she was pawning off all of his valuables. Evie loses her mother in a world of drugs and prostitution, but for some reason she does still love her. One day Evie crossed paths with an unlikely angel in disguise, Billie Joe Armstrong. She refuses to believe that anyone as good as Billie could love her and doesn't want to take the chance of getting hurt. In the aftermath of a huge misunderstanding Evie is left with a new boyfriend Riley. The first month is wonderful, everything a girl could dream for but then Riley showes his true colors. In the lowest of times Billie is always there for her trying to care for her and protect her. Even though he tells her he likes her she doesn't believe him, she thinks he pities her. After all, in her mind she is asking herself 'why would someone like Billie settle for me'?
