After a long and tiring day, Sonic spends the night at Tails' place. They hang out and play video games, a perfect ending for his day. But, Sonic is haunted by a nightmare that night. When he wakes up, he's scared. So, Sonic does what he does best, he ran. He ran until he saw someone sitting by the beach, someone fighting their own nightmare.
