Galactica has jumped away after it's cataclysmic battle against The Colony. Although badly damaged, she is still in one piece. But she'll never jump again, and wherever she ends up, is where the fleet will stay. They emerge in a Solar System with nine planets and one sun

And the third planet from the sun is inhabited.

It is the year 2022 on Earth, and a former NASA Astronaut sitting at a computer terminal in Maryland makes a discovery that will change the course of the planet.
