Dopo la caduta e tutto quello che ne è conseguito, Sherlock e John risolvono di nuovo casi insieme al 221B; anche se quest'ultimo, ormai, è in procinto di convolare a nozze con Mary Morstarn. Ma John, Mary e Sherlock vivono una quotidianitá tutta loro: strana, ma serena come non mai.
Ma quella serenità non è, purtroppo destinata a durare: un vecchio nemico, infatti, sta tornando.
