Alfie Solomons is a bachelor. He's a lot of other things too. Some would call him an entrepreneur, others might call him a baker, or a gangster if they dared. That's because he deals with white bread, and brown bread, and lots and lots of rum. Not to mention precious jewels, faberge eggs, fixing boxing matches, protection - that kind of thing. Then there's the Judaism. And the violence. He's Complicated, that's what they would say. But he is a bachelor too. Women have taken a back seat in his priorities really, especially since his return from the war in France. Whilst he isn't short of female company, it's become the norm for it to be the hired kind that sate his desires professionally and for a steady price, and that's the way he likes it. No drama. Until a fellow gangsters daughter comes to work for him, and makes his life more than a little bit complicated.
