"All throughout my child hood, Les was always sneaking up on me, making me jump. Quickly, so I wouldn’t have time to see his face, he’d pop out of some bush and tackle me while yelling “SURPRISE” as loud as he could. I would always try to scare him back, but, when I tackled him, it was if he expected it. He would turn open his arms, and catch me into a hug. The tight squeeze constantly took me off guard, making me squeal in shock. While I pouted, he'd bury his face in my hair and laugh so hard I could feel the vibrations.. “Les!” I would whine, “You’re supposed to be scared.” “Well,” His breath tickled my ear. “Maybe I just like surprising you.” I forced the laughter farther down my throat. He didn’t know I would be coming home so soon, he still thinks I am on a school field trip. Since I was coming home earlier than expected, I figured I would once again attempt to scare the boy. Slowly, I tiptoed closer to the scratched wooden door. I could hear music booming from inside, giving me an advantage of surprising him. Before he could catch me, I threw open the door and yelled: “SURPRI-“ My smile fell and I dropped my arms. I blinked a few times, wondering if I was seeing things, before my heart exploded in my chest. It was real.
