Prologue

"You can forget your friends and your family for now you are with us. You have been chosen to join us, The Silentless, and you will become the best . . . at everything. You will learn to fight and strategise and follow orders, and then when you do, your powers will emerge and you will join the fight. My name is Aamon and I am here to lead you, nothing else. I will not be your friend and I will not comfort you if you come crying to me when you miss your parents. We are your family now."

They listened in silence to the boy who stood before them, it was not because his words were inspiring but because he was floating six feet above the ground as he talked. He smiled down at the orphaned children below him and laughed.
