Meet seventeen year old Vail Allemand. Vail grew up in a large-yet modest home in a small town in France. Her life may seem glamorous to the naked eye, considering she spent most of her time living in luxury at Beechworth Manor, which was the home of her best friend Lady Margot Wimsingham. But, looks can be deceiving...

One day when Vail comes home to find her mother badly wounded and her abusive father passed out drunk, she might have taken things a bit too far when confronting him. Now she is faced with the heartbreaking decision of whether she should marry a man she doesn't love, or be hanged for the crime she has committed.
