Prepped to escape his father his dream is folded on when he hears a conversation between his and Roux's fathers. Gripped with fear of what might happen to a girl he thought he'd never see again, Clay makes an offer his father can't refuse. But, he gets a surprise when Roux doesn't accept him. Despite all of her rude comments, her evil tactics, and cold shoulder, Clay refuses to let her be subjected to what their parents have in store, so he stays and continues to try to win her over.
