She couldn't breathe. 

And this time she couldn't blame it on the tight corset. He was standing there. In his fine clothes. Surrounded by half a dozen of fawning girls batting their lashes at him. 

Run. She thought as the world around her reeled. 

She cannot bear to have those eyes to look at her. Those piercing blue eyes that looked straight through the hole in her heart. The pain that she has tried so hard to hide will then come again and knock her heart out of chest. She cannot, will not, endure that agony again. She turned around and started  to make her way out.
