How do we find God? What does it mean to be a saint? These are the issues faced by Brother John Chrysostom, Master of Novices at the abbey of St. Zacchaeus. His own spiritual path starkly contrasts with that of the new novice entrusted to his charge, whose transports of ecstasy cause Brother John to question the validity of his own efforts to grow in faith.
