In tenth century Norway a not so typical boy lives. See, his father is a petty king, meaning that he has rule over land-just not the entirety of Norway. The boy, Prince Harald Grenske, is destined to live the same life as his peaceful father. You know, the typical make sure no one takes your land, marry a woman for royalty and produce an heir as soon as possible life. Unfortunately, Harald is not lucky enough to live such a typical life. When he is but eleven years old men of high power break into the palace and murder his father. Harald, having already lost his mother, is shipped off to live with the family friend. Things truly go downhill from there. Despite the love Harald has handed to him on a silver platter, it's not enough. He has a new family that loves him and treats him as their own...he decides that it is not good enough for him. Harald will flee and make some very questionable decisions, not limited to: Viking raids, forcing himself to be king, and incest. Yes, Harald was a petty King, but watch him develop into a truly petty king in this novel. Please hit that little star and/or comment?
